Climb — Privacy Policy

Effective May 10, 2026

The short version

Your study data stays on your device. We never see your study progress, your answers, or the content of your conversations with Wren (the in-app AI tutor). We send no analytics. We collect the minimum we need to bill for the subscription and prevent abuse: a per-device identifier and your current subscription state. That's it.

What stays on your device

None of this leaves your device unless you explicitly export a digest or share a screenshot. Standard iCloud Backup may include this data if you have backup enabled in iOS settings — that's iOS itself, not Climb, and it stays in your personal iCloud account.

How the AI tutor works

Climb's AI tutor (Wren) is powered by Anthropic Claude. Every time you ask Wren something, the request flows from your device through a small Cloudflare Worker we operate — climb-proxy — and then to Anthropic's servers. The response flows back the same way.

Our proxy is a passthrough. We do not log or store the content of your prompts or Wren's responses. The proxy code does not read or branch on what's inside the request body beyond what's needed to forward it. The proxy exists so you don't have to manage an API key yourself, and so we can enforce a monthly usage cap. The content of your conversations on Anthropic's side is governed by Anthropic's privacy policy.

What we do collect (and why)

We collect three things, all per-device, all in service of running the subscription and protecting it from abuse:

Subscription billing

Climb Monthly is billed by Apple In-App Purchase. We never see your credit card, your Apple ID, or any payment information. Apple handles all of that, sends us a signed receipt that proves the subscription is active, and notifies us if it changes (renewal, refund, cancellation). Refunds are handled entirely through Apple — typically through your iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.

Children's privacy

Climb is designed for high-school students (typically ages 16–18) preparing for the SAT® exam. The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone of any age beyond what's described above (App Attest device identifier, subscription state, monthly usage counter — none of which identify the person using the device).

Sharing

We do not sell, rent, share, or trade any data. The three things we collect (above) are used only to run your subscription and the usage cap. We share them with Apple (which already has them — your subscription receipt comes from Apple) and Anthropic (which receives the content of AI requests on your behalf via our proxy passthrough). No third-party analytics. No advertising networks. No data brokers.

Data retention

We retain the device identifier and subscription state for as long as your subscription is active, plus a short period after cancellation for refund and chargeback handling (typically 60 days). The monthly usage counter rolls over monthly. To delete all server-side data we hold about your device, cancel your subscription and email us at the address below.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above. Material changes will be highlighted in an in-app notice the next time you launch the app.
